GEONEWS Project
Geonews videos are timely natural events-based videos to better engage with and communicate geoscience to the public on YouTube. UTD Geoscience Studios (UTD GSS) team has been working on this project since 2018.

UTD Geoscience Studio
Prof. Robert J Stern and I started the UTD Geoscience Studio (UTD GSS) in Sept 2016. UTD GSS is growing steadily and trained over 30 students on various science communication skills, including visual storytelling, multimedia communication and production, sketching, and photo design. UTD GSS also focused on geoscience communication, public understanding of geoscience, and geoscience education research.

My Role: Co-Founder, Leader, Researcher, Website and Social Media Manager, Video Producer, Project Manager, and Lecturer.

Started the UTD Geoscience Studio (UTD GSS) with my Ph.D. supervisor Prof. Robert J Stern in Sept 2016. Trained over 30 students on various science communication skills, including visual storytelling, multimedia communication and production, sketching, and photo design. Created over 100 professional advertising, documentary, and educational videos (including animations and films). Experienced with lights, audio, camera, lighting, other equipment (such as drones, sliders, stabilizers), design theories, Blender, Adobe software, and other scientific visualization, photogrammetry and data visualization software. Managed over 50 multimedia production projects.

A New Mixed Method to Assess User Experience of Watching Science Videos
I worked with UTD Multimodal Signal Processing (MSP) Lab to create a Deep-Learning-based Mixed Method to better evaluate user experience while watching geoscience videos. In addition, we are building a big dataset of videos recorded in controlled and wild environments for automatic emotion analysis.

Plate Tectonics Series for Middle School
Plate Tectonics is a hard topic for both middle school students and teachers. Working with Prof. Mary Urquhart from the UTD Science Education Department and 5 middle school teachers, we created six animations about important Plate Tectonics concepts. We are surveying middle school science teachers and plan to assess the videos in the classes in Spring 2022. The project was launched in 2020 summer.

Helped Zach Clowdus create the Clowdus Studios for Wedding and Fashion Photography Services in Jan 2021.

Marketing video for the International Association for Geoscience Diversity (IAGD)
The International Association for Geoscience Diversity (IAGD) is a 501c3 non-profit dedicated to improving access and inclusion for people with disabilities in the Geoscience community. UTD GSS created a field trip and IAGD demo video in 2018-19.

Evidence-based User-Centered Science Communication Video Design Method
Using Iterative design, combining UX research methods, and synthesizing psychological findings, we explore how to create evidence-based, effective videos on specific topics for communicating or educating students and the public.

Wheelhouse Geoscience Studio
I am taking charge of the projects of Wheelhouse Geoscience Studios, a section under the Wheelhouse Geoscience Consultant. I created new business strategies, designed products, and made advertising materials (mostly Videos and Animations). Regarding specific tasks, I take the lead in the service of (1) Designing videos that address business brand awareness, (2) Creating animations and narrated videos providing sale-side support for marketing oil and gas assets, and (3) Producing science-based videos used to educate stakeholder, community, and financing audiences about the geology of basins and specific hydrocarbon-bearing reservoirs.
